FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why Should I Become a Member of the PHI Cares Membership Program?

As a PHI Cares member, you are supporting a vital community program. Your membership helps offset the high cost of providing medical air transport to you, your family and friends. Your membership also helps to purchase equipment and medical supplies for the helicopters and airplanes. Your membership ensures that this vital service to our community remains active and viable. And, in the event that you or a loved one requires a medically necessary transport from a hospital to another hospital or to be transported from an emergency scene by PHI Air Medical, you will not have any out of pocket charges. See Terms and Conditions for details at www.phicares.com/termsandconditions.shtml.

How does this Work?

PHI Air Medical works closely with local fire departments, ground ambulances, law enforcement agencies, medical facilities, and physicians, to ensure safe, expedient, and lifesaving care for our patients.

I was flown by another air ambulance, will my membership cover their bill?

Your membership with PHI Cares relieves you of any additional charges when you or a loved one is transferred aboard a PHI Air Medical aircraft within the PHI Cares service area. Your membership does not cover charges from any other service provider. For a list of service areas, please see the PHI Cares website: www.phicares.com/coverage.shtml or contact the membership office directly.

If I am traveling outside my town, am I covered?

YES! There is a new benefit to your PHI Cares membership that will give you the flexibility that you require. Now when you become a member of PHI Cares, your membership extends nationwide. What this means to you is that if you are transported by any PHI Air Medical air ambulance, you are covered by your local membership at no additional cost! (This benefit is subject to local laws, and all local service parameters do apply.)

If I'm a renewing member, do I have to fill out the application?

Having a current application on file is legally required of PHI Air Medical, and it also ensures, for your protection, that we have your most up-to-date information.

If I'm on a fixed income, is it wise for me to join PHI Cares?

The PHI Cares Membership Program is ideal for anyone that is on a fixed income, who might otherwise have to absorb the portion of the bill not covered by your insurance or any other third party payor.

If I am transported by ground ambulance to the PHI aircraft, will my membership cover the cost of the ground ambulance?

PHI Cares membership does not cover any ground ambulance charges associated with a PHI Air Medical transport.

Is PHI Air Medical guaranteed to be available when requested for transport?

In most locations, we have flight crews and aircraft on duty and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. While PHI Air Medical will make every effort to respond to a request for an air medical transport, several factors including, among others, adverse weather, the aircraft is in use at the time of the request, or aircraft maintenance may prevent PHI Air Medical from responding to a request for an air medical transport, so PHI Air Medical cannot guarantee that its aircraft will always be available when a request for transport is received.

How long is my membership valid?

Your membership if valid for one (1) year beginning five (5) days after your completed application and your nonrefundable payment is received.
